The “I Remember” project is inspired by French writer Georges Perec’s je me souviens, which saw the writer catalogue the ordinary, the normal, the boring, the forgettable parts of life that make up life. Those things that he remembered that nobody else would, that literature wouldn’t, that film wouldn’t.
My “I Remember” series is inspired by this, and I write one each day. These are not supposed to be profound or even always interesting. They are an attempt to capture the ordinary details of my life, the details I generally forget, but which help make me me.
Until the website has caught up to the current day, I will post two-three per day, Monday – Friday, and possibly weekends.
